After 50yrs of the Hayward gallery being opened it has undergone a refurbishment over this course of time, and me never going there this seemed very colourful and new when arriving at the door, the opening times either went stated clearly as they have been changed as a lot of people arrived at 10 am to the building thinking it would open up, but as in small font at the front door it says opens at 11 am.

The area around the Hayward gallery is very brutalistic block around it so the bright yellow colours used around and on the building mac it stand out form that brutalistic colour and the rest of the buildings. This is one way to catch people’s attention and draw you in to the building.

Even though the Hayward gallery went under the refurbishment you could see they made not a lot of effort of entry pf ease to the building as on the day of arrival to the building we in the UK where created by its national and normal weather heavy rain. The rain showed the problems in and around the building as a lot of the drains don't work and create huge puddles of about a foot deep at points meaning it completely soaking your feet and ruining the experience of the actual gallery in the first place, before even taking the steps inside.

once entering past the exhibition tickets and into the main gallery its self the building its self is and looks like a premium exhibition hall, as it looks very brutalistic with modern lines and features against the flooring, casing of stairs around the whole area.

The whole exhibition space is huge as there’s around 6 big floors to display work and exhibit it all, for the time we went all these floors where filled by Gursky’s work and images.

The biggest thing that is noticeable is the repurposing of the 66-piece pyramid roof on the top floor, while is visible form the end of waterloo bridge. The design of it was to let in natural lighting into the space but during the re-construction it was previously masked and hidden over by a sunken ceiling, which was caused by the typical British weather.

A lot of Gursky’s images are big and mesmerizing as of the size of his image, the image quality of Gursky’s image are beyond amazing at the size that they look at. After spending some time around the gallery looking at his huge images they don’t seem to all big as all the images are so big that they even each other out making them look normal within this huge gallery at this size.

When walking through the gallery you see the beautiful images, his work is in such huge in detail that you also start to notice any issues or mistake that are created by Gursky, so to have images almost perfect to what he wants is amazing as it makes it that more interesting, with even some of his images you see the overlaps of images where they have been placed as you over see the same person, head or object twice rather than just once.

I would recommend having a look at the gallery space and at Gursky’s work as it’s so mesmerizing in everyway and you can pick away at his work as when you do this you find all the mistakes and things you may not notice on the computer or online, looking at it in person.
