Evalution

This set of work and brief has been very eye opening for me and I’ve learnt new things, but with this I have found it in my personally experience boring and frustrating and mainly because of the Economy brief set up, and also possible other factors that I will come to.

The pros of having and me doing PDP is that I have started to look at smaller things within the gallery such as the space that is being used in and around the place, the actually images on how they are hung or held into place with and then looking at the images themselves and how they look like as I usually over looked and just had one glance at images and walked off, with this I have finally learnt that it takes time and thought to see what’s going on in and around the image.

Something that I found is that when I work within a group I have a bigger motivator to work faster and better as if I start to slack the rest of the groups suffers and I know this from all types of things such as me playing team sports to other factors like work and even when having to do team prestation’s, if someone doesn’t do their part it will affect the whole piece of work. So as a pro I found out that my work flow is great when working in a group and what I need to do is take that and move that into my own work as I still slack and not keep on top of all my work as a usually leave it until I have a good block of work to do which then I do within 1 day, this isn’t the best of ways of learning nor working I have found and this will be different for the next instalment of work.

I would say my commination is very good and I’ve never been afraid to say anything nor speak on the behalf of a person as these come over time to everyone after getting to know people, getting to know the class better and more and also the staff brings more confidence in my work, speech and also in general attitude towards everyone as you have more understanding and respect for everyone.

In the group task I found my self to be a good team leader personally I would say as I seeked out information than rather wait for things to be done and sorted, and asked things when I need to know, I also would say that I have a good vision of seeing how things pan out and work based already the groups and people form our class so I can have and make good guesstimate on how long things can be created and done. Some people say that I sounded more of a dictator as I pointed the figure and said things to do rather than ask if they can do anything, the statement came form one of my curation team members and I would say that I did this only when I started to notice that I was doing all the work mostly as, when I asked them to do a job they weren’t done so I had to pick up the load so that we had no stops, as then the group would be behind on things, such as the shopping trip we had to go on that day as if we didn’t go we possibly wouldn’t of had the money to buy the products the next day as the money was used to print posters out.

Floor plan they used to edit and make there copy.I wasn’t too happy in the economy brief when my floor design got changed by the design team without my permission or the asking of how it looked as I didn’t like what it came out of it and the way it looked like as it still wasn’t the floor plan I wanted, as I was recreating the floor plan whilst they printed it, I had the new one on drive and all I would have had to do was share it with them, saving them time and also keeping the design much more accurate, as the one the went off was the old design which I didn’t like and we didn’t even use. What made it worse is that the floor design that they made they added to the catalogue which slightly disliked as that floor design was changed by them and if there’s any mistakes which there was, they will just pass on the mistakes onto me and say it was the person curation which I don’t like, I think they should of asked as that was made and designed by me personally and they just completely wrote it off and made their own based off my design.What they had on the catalogue and used.The one I had in drive ready to share, and pre made on the day, which is almost exactly to what we had and used.

Something that I would say I would say that I need to improve upon is possibly my writing style on how I word things in text forum and possibly re-read my work properly rather than just skim over them and say its ok.

A time factor within this whole PDP I would say hasn’t been an issue and I’ve enjoyed creating and making the exhibition space and seeing my design come to life, something that I wish I did improve upon within that sector would be to create a 3D module of the space rather than just having a digital space as making and creating the module would allow everyone to see how the space would actually look like and also it could be used as a piece within the work space that could be shown.

In terms of research and exploring gallery’s and gaining experience so far, I would say that I have definitely done a lot more and better than I thought I would and from these experiences of seeing and learning I have learnt even more things that I may have not known. I would definitely say I liked this area I learning as I would say things where much more physical rather than digital and this was more hands-on style of work which I preferred much more.

Overall I’m happy with what I have learnt within this module compared possibly to others within this year, but I also have found out that some people are lazy and uncommitted when it comes to team work so I will remember this in mind, the reason I wouldn’t say this was either my favourite not the best but boring is because it felt like I was repeating myself to people when it was the group tasks and also the fact of having a communications coach was pointless as I feel this would benefit a few people within the class which you can see has improved there speaking within the group that bit better, but the communication for me I would say has stayed neutral and nothing has changed as I would say I’ve had no issues before. What I would say is that I should possibly go and explore more opportunities for work experiences rather than only using a contact which was amazing experience for sure but known as a friend, I should possibly go and visit places I may not know anyone or anything about and gain experiences from there.
