Jason Hirons is a lecture in PCA currently and he teaches illustration, he came up to photography and gave his theory and work about his work called ‘walking artist’. He isn’t a photographer but he explained what he does and how we could possibly work off his ideas.

On the 27th of Feb he came up to as and he explained what he does and the reason he called it walking artist. The reason he said this is he views walking as finding things, walking as a conquest to find sorting at the end or to at least learn something new that he possibly may of never knew.

Jason said that he is interested in the work of rephotography this is where you repeat photography at the same site multiplied times over a space of days, weeks or years. This style of photography is good as it the viewer a past and present perspective of how the spot and area changes such as a map from the 1900 will be different to the present as roads and buildings have been moved and destroyed to create areas that may have not been there a couple of damaged ago.

Inspired by rephotography Jason decided he would chose a route and then map it out, he walked the same wrote 24 times, 12 on his ow and then 12 with another person or animal. The routes are all slightly alerted with animals as they want to sniff different things and new areas so he saw things that he may have overlooked when he was on his own.

He then spoke about how there is information in everything and you just have to decide and chose whether you find it important or not. you have to question everything and it may become more important for you that it may be, but you should always question things as that’s a way to find an answer.

At the end of his talk he told us to rethink and possibly revisit ideas as you will learn from them and discover how you want to change them for the better as he does that a lot of his work.

Then he mentioned about recording people’s conversions whilst he walked around, and then he used them to create quotes for his students to possibly create work.

After he said that I thought of my project and this solidified my idea to walk around Plymouth and listen to people’s conversations and then create masterpieces of work that would be followed with a quote that a person has said but me not getting the whole context of the conversation so it keeps me thinking rather of what I can create, to what the actual conversation was about.
